a few little things i found.....

so i like a lot of odd things and if i see something in a magazine i tend to cut it out and stick it up on the wall. now i have 2 drawers full of these treasures and i had to cull them, sometimes there is a line that has to be drawn before you
wake up and realise you are a hoarder. anyway, i came across a few things that i loved and i found links to share so you may love them too.

firstly, its hennie henworth a super talented london based illustrator. i love her use of color, and her sketches of everything from cupcakes to pens bring a little joy to your day.

i am also crazy for stationery. maybe its from when i was a kid and was always dying for a letter, who knows. in any case i love the cards and invites by poppies for grace and even though i make my own stationery i can't seem to stop myself buying their treasures

also a lovely site i found was by lisa who is a graphic designer and stationery maven who makes some pf the sweetest design and invites i have ever seen! her studio good on paper is producing some really unique and fantastic work so take a peek ;)

oh and i just thought i would share my latest achievement - baking a pavlova from scratch with my sister! it was for my grandad's 79th and it was quite a hit :)

something old, something new

sometimes i have an idea in my head that i can see and it looks great but when i try to actually create the real thing it looks nothing like it and i get disappointed. then there are days like yesterday.

as the parentals are renovating we have been spring cleaning, which is how i found my new precious box of old stamps. as soon as i saw them i thought hmm maybe they can be a pattern for the laidies to wear. so i spent a long time ilast night burning the midnight oil n a frenzy drawing and collaging and these are the results. i haven't sewn them yet i am actually happy that for once something turned out better than imagined

hope you have a creative day too xxx ava and the birds

some lovely things....

truth be told, i kind of get inspired by anything. seriously a colour, a old cheesy 80s classic like xanadu (gotta love leg warmers!), a little snippet in the newspaper is really enough to send me into a frenzy. so when a little while ago i stumbled across a lovely square amongst the mag rack i was intrigued. and since i have been hooked to the lovely little 'mook' named dumbo feather. it is truly lovely with its profiles of inspiring inviduals in each issue and how they make take their passion and run with it. and now its available as an e-mook. click here for a peak

sketching sketching sketching....

well it's been a few busy days for little me - baking a pavolva (thank fully it turned out!), getting a new 'do and sketching like a mad woman to come up with some new cards for a little project i will let you in on soon. thankfully the tea supply has kept me going but i think i will need a little rest - my arm hurts! anyway here are a few of the lovely drawings. hope you like them xx
