i heart poppy

I literally spend hours a day staring at my little laptop Pippi and i love her, but sadly she is not feeling so well so the time has come to upgrade so to speak. Which is what I did last nigt when I went and picked up my new iMac.

It is probably wrong to be so excited about material possessions. In fact I know it is.

But I am prepared to own the fact that I actually did a little run on the spot style jig of joy when I got me new iMac home last night. I can't wait to spend hours working on my new baby, I think I am going to name her Matilda .

Oh and here is a new design I have been woking on as part of my new vintage inspired line of stationery and greetings. many more to come, but I hope you like these :)

this is my bliss

B L I S S  is :

spending time at home
enjoying tim tams, tea & my favourite mags

yummy breakfast at gorgeous cafe each peach

being in my studio (with my mug from NYC)

creating new designs like these

finding beautiful dresses like this for $5 while out thrifting (more photos to come)

seeing live music (and yes i was this close, no zooming required)

So lately I have been thinking a lot about bliss. You know, what makes you really happy, content even. I never used to think about this but since I have been away I have on my little holiday I have been more aware of how important it is to have a little bit of bliss in everyday, rather then getting stuck on things that make you loose hope. So here are some things that make me happy.

when girls get wardrobe envy....

So my friend and I did a little internet shopping this evening. Now I don't support crazy manic silly shopping so we were just perusing. and then we came across some lovely oxfords at urban outfitters which were exactly what we both had been looking for. And then all these gorgeous things from twinset. And this is where we fell off the wagon my friends. My friend snapped up this & this and i snapped up this. and we are sharing this

see what i mean?

we loooooossssst our minds. golly

but i guess on the plus side we will be looking super stylish for a while.

and you can too - we still left some things in store for you so pop on over here

vintage jealously

So you may or may not have noticed i have a slight weakness for pretty dresses. Especially pretty vintage dresses. So this little sneak peek of the new lookbook from my favourite online vintage store twin set pretty much sent me into a mini meltdown today.

Seriously

I wish that I was kidding. Look at those pictures

I can't wait to see the full looks but i am already lusting over how lovely it would be to wear those gloves and that grey jacket to beat this chilly Melbourne winter. Now if only my hair and makeup could look as gorgeous as the lovely Renee and Jordan do in those pictures too (a little mad men like don't you think?) I think I would be pretty happy all round.

So go visit the lovely twin set site and their blog too and look out for the new lookbook

i love lists

Do you ever have those times where you kind of swamp yourself with your own expectations? Well I do, all the time it seems.I blame my love of list making. Anyway, my point is (and there is a point) I am currently working through my list which includes lots of new designs, even some new products (brooches anyone?!) and a big shop update which hopefully will be done by the end of the week.

So until I actually can show you something more finished than my list I thought you might like to listen to my new fave dreamy song by Matt Corby

my heart aches for you

New York, my heart aches for you.

Ok, even i can admit that is a touch dramatic.

But i do miss New York a lot. i can't believe it is almost a month since i was there. Oh well at least i have this new little collage to look at wistfully when i get all sad and miss New York.

paris i love you

my director at work asked me to make something for him today for his wife's birthday. he is planning on taking her to paris later in the year (i know - so jealous). and he is going to surprise her with this news and wanted a sweet card to do so. so being the hopeless romantic i am, this is what i made. i was going for subtle & chic and a little bit wistful. i think i might make a few more like this, i love collage as much as i imagine i would love paris

Relaxing at Griffith Park.

So for the final stop on my little voyage abroad - LA. I had some really great times in LA. We spent the day exploring Downtown - I saw the bench from 500 days of summer, the Million Dollar Theatre & the Walt Disney Concert Hall. We went to the La Brea Tar Pits and LACMA. And of course I did the typical things - Hollywood Bld which I am not going to lie, I totally enjoyed putting my hands in the casts at Mann's Chinese Theatre more than words. We went to  a great museum too at the old Max Factor Building. I mean thats where Lucy got here hair colour. Awesome, well to me anyway. We also spent the day at Griffith Park which was one of my fave days ever, its gorgeous up there and the Observatory is just gorgeous (and has a kickass planetarium show!). LA is so spread out its just silly, but I really liked being there. It is just an OTT place but like everywhere I guess it has some sweet spots.

So that is my trip in a nutshell for you - hopefully you enjoyed my photos! I had a truly amazing time and honestly I didn't want to come home, I loved the USA. Seriously, I am already planning my next trip.

Coming up I will share my treasures from my trip with you, I think I picked up some gems you will like.

sweet home Chicago

Tiny street art at the Tribune Building

Chicago. Well as you may know, I studied architecture. And Chicago is the home of modern architecture, well the skyscraper at least. I was overwhelmed by this, and slightly annoyed by it. Don't get me wrong - there are some amazing architectural sites but there are so many I just didn't find I could become attached to it. But there are some gorgeous things i loved, riding the El, sitting in the sun in Millennium Park, exploring Lincoln Park. Chicago has a rhythm all its own and I had a great time. I saw some amazing jazz, a great play & I saw my fave band Mumford & Sons play an amazing show (but more on that later).

and next - last but not least - Los Angeles!

9.6.10

i left my heart in San Francisco

The De Young Museum

Outdoor movies in San Fran - at the park where the Full Houses are - awesome

Sonoma is gorgeous - I would move there in a heart beat

Grace Cathedral

Wandering around the streets of San Fran - so amazing

Seeing a Banksy in 'the wild' - after we saw Exit Through Gift Shop

Bay to Breakers - a fun run with a difference & 300,000 people

Gorgeous houses

I really did leave my heart in San Francisco. I have wanted to go there since I was in Grade 2 and made my fake trip plan. And I was not disappointed. I only had a few days there but it was a cool city. Amazing art, story book houses, crazy amazing food. What more could you want?

San Fran highlights:

1. Wandering Haight Street down to Golden Gate Park
2. Our drive to Sonoma for a little fun afternoon of wine and beautiful scenic driving
3. Seeing a Banksy in Chinatown
4. Yummy food everywhere - seriously!
5. Amazing street art at every turn - literally
6. Grace Cathedral & SFMoMA -amazing gallery & amazing building

the capitol

D.C was lovely. It was hot - I'm talking 35 degrees. Everywhere you turn there is a monument, there is an inspiring building. You are literally wandering through history. I stayed in Capitol Hill and it was a lovely little pocket of sweetness with a great market & street after street of little brownstones. I saw the White House (which was actually really uninteresting). I got to see the star spangled banner. And Dorothy's ruby slippers at the Smithsonian American Museum. I got to go to the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery which for me was the best gallery I have ever been to my entire life. I was so inspired. I still am.

So my D.C highlights:
1. Exploring the Smithsonian's - it is just amazing they have such a collection all in one city
2. The Vietnam Memorial - I studied this at uni and it is honestly the most stunning built form I have or will ever interact with. Big call I know, but really it is so beautiful
3. Arlington Cemetery. I was just overwhelmed by this.
4. Walking the Mall at sunrise. Beautiful
