Fully SIx Exhibition

So I'm excited to share finally that I will be part of another group exhibition here in Melbourne. Yay!

Put together by Youngbloods Victoria, the exhibition will be part of a series aimed to showcase new artists and give some inspiration with other creatives. Every month for the next six, there’ll be artwork and speakers to inspire young creatives to push the boundaries.

Fully Six kicks off from 6pm at Guildford Lane Gallery (20-24 Guildford Lane, Melbourne) on October 12th!

Oh and the artists in this one will be :

Jake Rolfe
Amelia Lackman and Georgie Seccull
Simon Noynay
Dawn Tan  (of Hand Made Love)
Jessica Hyde (thats me!)
Tom Blatchford

For more details check out the Facebook event page here

truth be told, I love invitations

So it really is no secret that I am quite fond of a wedding or anything to do with weddings. Actually parties in general, but weddings do tend to have better cake which is beside the point.

Oh and there is a point

Well, while my love of weddings is pretty clear, I probably haven't shared that I actually design custom wedding invitations. Doing these designs is probably my most favourite thing to do, because I really love collaborating with people to come up with something super special.  So below is one of the recent custom designs I have done - engagement party invites for my pal Kate for you to have a sneaky peek at.

This was heaps of fun for me because Kate is quite a stylish lass indeed and she also gave me free reign to design something elegant, simple and fun. In my excitement, I whipped up quite a few designs but this one was the winner in the end and they look super.

So if you know anyone who is getting married or having a party, or just needs some sweet custom work then point them in my direction.

design : semi permanent melbourne (among other things)

all pics by me

So I'm a little slow on posting this, but it's just that I was having too much fun actually enjoying myself that I didn't get to sort through my photos of all the fun. Sorry :)

Anyway, last weekend I went to Semi Permanent here in Melbourne and I walked away so completely inspired by all the amazing speakers that I didn't quite know what to do with myself. I have never wanted to change my career so many times in one day!  I took something away from every single one but my faves were Timba Smits, Buck, Claire Martin, Andy Jenkins and Big Active.  In fact after listening to Gerard Saint from Big Active speak about the art direction they do I was pretty set on packing my bags, moving to London and begging for a job.

I did come to my senses though, never fear. But I did learn a whole lot about what I want to do in this crazy world and maybe how I could make it happen one of these days.

Oh and I went to see the magnificent Megan Washington perform on Friday night at the Corner Hotel. She is the shiz. You should check her out if you haven't already.

the new truth

So I've been working on a new kind of look for the blog and truth.be.told in general. And I've finally (well kind of) finished. And I'm pretty pleased.

Things are still the same, just with a new shiny glow. more news to come but for now hope you enjoy

dear spring

Dear Spring

I think you may have missed the rather large post-it note I left for you. But in case you haven't looked at your calendar lately it is half way through September, which usually means Spring has sprung. I know I live in Melbourne and should be used to cloudy days but really, is it not time for a little sunshine?

So see what you can do, a few cloudless days like the one above would be ideal.

shut up shut up shut up!!

Ok not literally - speak if you wish.

I didn't mean to be so rude.

I am just super excited, one of my fave singers is finally coming to Australia and I am kind of stoked. Ingrid Michaelson is super. Check her out and if you are lucky go and see her live too when she comes to visit this wonderful land of Oz.

Underneath Cloud Gate in Chicago

So I finally got my films processed from my little travel adventure over to America earlier in the year and I thought I would share a few with you. I took them with my Diana Mini and apart from a minor (ok major) incident where the camera may have kind of eaten a roll of Kodak film - with most of my first few days in NYC on it - they turned out ok. Still, it was slightly awkward. But thankfully there were a few nice results.  I'll share a few more gems when I finish scanning them all in.

Also I'm starting to plan my next holiday - thinking the destination will be New Zealand! Have you been? Any ideas where to go?

no need to wonder what's been on my mind

lyrics from paperweight by joshua radin

sometimes i don't know why my mind is consumed thinking hopelessly about people and things that are out of reach. seriously i want to slap myself for being such a hopeless daydreamer sometimes.

while daydreaming i have been listening to this gorgeous song pillow by love.stop.repeat
it is so sweet and gorgeous and captures pretty much everything i am thinking right now.
go check it out for yourself my lovelies
