help bring something amazing to life!

So money makes the world go around, I get that. But sometimes it would be nice for money to make lovely special things happen like help awesome artists get cool projects off the ground.

So often we creative types have amazing ideas and dreams but they never become reality because the money needed to make it happen is out of control! It is sad really.

You are probably wondering what my point is, well this is it:

The amazingly talented Jordan Clarke has created a tarot deck which is completely gorgeous. No really, check it out here

Anyway, in order to make it all happen Jordan's amazing project a reality, she is asking for us to help her out by pledging donations to the project. If she reaches her target she can then get the cards printed and we can all have amazing cards to gaze at in awe (because they are that gorgeous!)

So if you would like to help a fellow creative lass out, have a look over at Jordans pledge site at IndieGoGo for all the details!

cake + roses

So yesterday I turned 27. I haven't been looking forward to this birthday that much but it turned out to be one of the best I have had in a really long time.

I had LOADS of cake.

My room now resembles a small florist.

It was a rather special day indeed. Hopefully it's the start of a good year...

On the Wall - WIP

So as promised here are a few work in progress shots of my piece for On the Wall

It's progressed a little more since the last shot but I'll save the final reveal for later. I haven't thought of the name for it yet but  was thinking she looks like a little bit of a rebel. Oh and I wish my hair was flame orange like this! Hope you like her :)

whimsy in watercolour

So I thought I would share a little sneak peek at a bit of custom work I am doing at the moment. It is for a rather lovely birthday celebration and I have been channelling all sorts of elegance and glamour to make this one extra special. I'm actually really happy with it, I'm experimenting with watercolours and paints in general for this which is a little bit scary but I think its going ok so far. Hopefully share the completed invite soon.

I love doing custom invitations and illustrations, it is nice to work with someone to create something unique they can treasure. Ok thats a little corny, but its how I see it :)

chaos looks like this

do you like my horsey lamp?everyone thinks its ugly (it kind of is) but I have always loved it.
it was my granddad's and now takes pride of place in my studio

before i packaged 300 christmas cards

and what the desk looked like when I had finished the last order - yikes!

So dear friends I have had a rather huge weekend. I am so bad at balancing my real job, truthbetold and seeing my friends and if this weekend has proven anything to me it is that I am tired and need to say no sometimes.

Not that I am complaining. I had a great time. I caught up with my favourite people. I met some lovely new crafty people at the markets. I saw one of my favourite musicians ever. But more on all of this later.

The point is there are two things I need to remember :

1. I have a full time job.
2. I need to sleep.

So in saying that it is 12:53am so I should actually go to bed, but I just wanted to share some pics of the chaos in my studio at the moment. Might explain why I have been so delirious lately!

Anyway, this time next week I will be 27 (yay birthday time!). So this week I will be sharing lots of things I love - like a mini birthday blogging festival. I may also be having a giveaway because you should get presents too.

12.11.10

NEW FOR CHRISTMAS 2010

So I LOVE the holiday season. Everything about it is super.
I love decorating the tree, watching White Christmas for the 1,000 time and eating (non-stop).

I also love that each year I get to design new cards and gift tags for the holidays. And this year was no exception. Have a peek at the 4 new designs below, inspired by all the things I love about Christmas (apart from the eating non-stop thing).

All the new designs will be available in store and at the markets from now until the big day.

whipping up a storm

I have most definitely mentioned how much I love to bake more than once on this blog. So it's probably no surprise to anyone that I managed to get myself involved in a little bake off at work.

I made a simple chocolate cake with oodles of cream cheese icing. I've been making this cake since I was a little youngster so I kind of can whip it up with my eyes closed (if that was safe to do in the kitchen). Doesn't matter how good it looks, my favourite part is still putting on an apron and using my grandma's mixmaster. To me its pure bliss. Happy Monday

shape of love

While i feel a little bamboozled this Monday, I blame the silly torrential rain we had in Melbourne over the weekend for upsetting my balance or something. So while I am all frazzled and struggling to string together a sentence I thought I would join in with Anna again for Much Love Monday

things i'm loving this week :

mid week Public Holidays - Melbourne Cup I love you
buying too many concert tickets - January and February please hurry up and get here!

and the song I am loving this week - Shape of Love by Passenger featuring Boy and Bear
This video is actually from the gig I saw last weekend - enjoy :)

ps. I think you can download this track for free thanks to inertia - but buy the whole album instead and make an indie artist smie :)
