sparkles against a beige backdrop

so i may have mentioned before that i kind of heart mumford and sons right? well tomorrow night i am seeing them in my home town and despite having seen them play live umm cough*7*cough times in the last 5 months i am still actually totally and completely amped.  kind of sad i know but their music makes me happy. and to be honest my days tend to be filled with some sort of beige moments but each time one of these gems pops onto my ipod i smile. so i think its ok.

truth // i wish i was an indie rock star

i know i have been probably posting more about music lately than pretty arty things. maybe because i have been going to lots of fun events lately. well, yesterday kind of continued this trend. i went along to the laneway festival and i must say i had a great day. it was super hot and while i maybe could have done with some more shade ( i am super pale - or i was until yesterday) i had a great day. mumford + sons was brilliant as was the xx and florence + the machine was pretty epic. and dancing to n.a.s.a like a crazy woman at the end was pretty radical too. the sardine can train ride on the way home with people fainting wasn't even enough to ruin the day. can't wait for more days of summer music fun

truth // i like moments of bliss

moments of bliss are few and far between. i mean true moments of joy where you just kind of feel like you are glowing. its rare, well at least for me. so when i catch myself in moment of true bliss and happiness i am always taken aback and in the same moment treasure it. i found myself feeling this exact way last night when i was watching laura marling at the corner hotel.  i haven't been truly content like that in i don't know how long. she is stunningly talented. seriously, if don't already love her, go and listen to her because she is an amazing songwriter with a truly beautiful voice. and she was joined by the rather dapper marcus of mumford and sons who is also ridiculously talented (playing 3 instruments at once anyone?). i was literally swooning over him, sort of embarrassing but completely justified. above are a few photos i took from my front row possie. oh and check out the support act too - boy and bear - they are a rather talented little foursome.

sigh no more

you have probably already heard about these guys, mumford & sons. they are perfectly lovely. i saw marcus supporting laura marling last year and pretty much fell in love with his voice on the spot. since then i have been listening complusively to them. so you can imagine i was pretty excited about their new album sigh no more. its gorgeous, honestly it is so great. and they are coming for the laneway festival in january too which caused me to do a star jump at work upon hearing this (slightly OTT, I know). anyway i could gush for hours, so just go listen for yourself.

oh and did anyone see spicks and specks last night? megan washington was so amazing!

bright sparks

It has been just so hot here in Melbourne that I have been unable to think & actually ended up being sent home from work yesterday with heat stroke. Added to that, my train line was non-functioning + we lost power at home too. I think I have consumed about 48 icy poles in 3 days and may have declared yesterday that I would marry my desk fan if it promised to keep me cool forever. Clearly, I got a little hysterical.
The bright spark in the heat wave for me was that I just found where to get the Mumford & Sons EP. I saw Marcus from Mumford & Sons last year when I went to see Laura Marling at the Corner and loved his voice almost as much as I love my fan (alot, in other words). And finally, I have found their songs to buy! My fave is white blank page but go here and have a listen for yourself.
