this is... my favourite thing from nature

exploring the cliffs at point lonsdale
i thought i would share my favourite 'nature' photo i took last summer when down the coast. i can't wait to get down there again sometime this year and just have a blissful day wandering the rocks
thanks to angela + cloth and fodder for this weeks this is

this is my favourite movie

I have a lot of favourite movies, I honestly can't even name a top ten without breaking my heart by leaving something out. So I thought long and hard and I think that my all time fave is The Return to Oz. I loved this movie so much as a kid because it just was so creative and funny to me. What other movie has lunch pail trees, a hall of heads and a flying couch with a moose head that talks? I never liked the musical version of The Wizard of Oz because it just didn't seem quite right but this has always seemed to me what Oz would really be like. My favourite part would be when Dorothy is trying to pick the objects which are her friends from Oz. I would tell you more but I don't want to ruin it if you haven't seen it.

and here are a few of my other faves, all of which are a little left of centre too and visually quite rich.
waitress
edward scissorhands
amelie
juno
thanks to hokey for the lovely theme this week + to check out other peoples faves have a look over here

this is.... what i would like to be when i grow up

when i was a kid i wanted to be a lot of things. i wanted to be an archaeologist, sarah in the labryinth, sleeping beauty (because her dress changed colour) and even a pilot. clearly some of these are a little more realistic than others. and at almost 25 i still have no idea. i would like to do something to combine all the things i love like art, crafting, photography and just learning in general. people think i am a little strange for wanting to go back and study after 6 years at uni but oh well. i'm thinking of doing an illustration short course or even maybe jewellery.

if all else fails i can totally live my dream of marrying david bowie and wearing that awesome white dress in the labryinth.

thanks to cindy for the great theme this week

this is ...my favourite childhood story

this is actually a hard one for me, i really loved reading so much as a child (still do).
but i always loved alice in wonderland, not the disneyfied version but the real deal. think maybe its that i really liked the idea of such a colourful world.

this is ...how i like to spend my weekend

well honestly, i'm not too fussy with my weekends. i just like to relax and not be at work! but the last few months i have developed a little bit of an obsession with making the time off count by seeing as much of my friends and family as i can. and this weekend was pretty perfect for me as far as that goes. so here is my weekend in a nutshell:
super fun new zealand wine tasting at work, seeing my uni friends friday night for our mates album launch, dancing around and maybe drinking a little too much on friday night, catching up with these super lovely people , dancing in the rain + not dropping my maccas chippies at the same time!, sleeping in (maybe thanks to the wine + dancing), reading the papers, taking lots of polaroids. seeing the art deco exhibition, trying on some AWFUL red lipsticks, buying our first ever red lipsticks with yols, making a few cards + well sleeping.
all in all it was a perfect weekend. and for those of you who are in Melbourne and haven't been to see the Art Deco exhibition at NGV yet, I would say what are you waiting for? . My favourite things were the amazing dresses by lanvin & chanel, the cartier jewellery, radios + the honestly beauiful illustrations and travel posters. the only down side really is that it is so so busy that you can't stand around and admire for as long as i would like (but that could be years!)
i hope you all had just as much fun this weekend too!
thanks to the bird bath for this weeks theme

this is ..my work in process

so i showed you in my last post a couple of new drawings i have been working on so i thought how fitting to show you how one of them finished up. i am really happy with lillie, its a little different from what i have been doing and i really miss combining the collage element as much as i was. so, lillie started life as a pencil sketch and i added some clothes using photoshop. i'm so happy with her i have framed her up and put her on my own wall :)

thanks to kept in a jar for this weeks theme! check out more works in progress over here

this is what makes me happy

its not that hard to make me happy. my family is always saying how i can be so easily entertained by a shiny object and honestly it is true. so i have chosen a few things, new and old, shiny & gold (rhyming makes me happy too) that make me happy:

this awesome green bike basket i saw at the design market at fed square on sunday. it makes me want to get an old malvern star and cruise around with a kitten or something in the basket.
my beautiful new pendants (again from the markets)

nights out with my girls

coloured pencils

paper - i love going to art shops and rifling throught the paper

some of the other things that make me happy: drawing, cupcakes, david bowie music , movies like edward scissorhands, hair ribbons, roller skates

22.6.08

this is...my individual style

this is... my most favourite outfit that expresses my individual stylewell its more like a collection of bits & pieces. my fave is my white sundress with bright shoes but i don't wear it that often because, well i am a magnet for dirt & mess. so here are the other things that make up my individual style:

my badges (my fave are the birds & my shell earring i wear on a necklace)

dresses: i think i have maybe 15 gems that i love to wear, here are 3 of my faves. all of them were a steal (well except for the blue cue one i got to wear to my final uni presentation last year)
and shoes, colourful shoes!

so give me anything a little pretty & in a jewel tone & i am one happy lassie

this is my favourite travel memory

this is one of my fave travelling moments. its after my friends & i played mini golf on the gold coast when visiting our friends cass & scotty. lets just say that mini golf isn't as easy as it looks & there were balls flying over fences & very close to little peoples heads. i couldn't breathe at one point from laughing so much. so here is our champion shot.

this is... my pet

well this is my lovely puppy michael (or mickey). well he isn't exactly a puppy anymore, he is a big labrador who is maybe 10 or 11 now. he is my little studio assistant when he isn't being maybe a little naughty and stealing things and hiding them outside so i have to come and play. the worst was when he hid my ugg boot behind the lemon tree. it took 2 days to find.

but he pretty cute, so i let him get away with it all.
