Film Clip Friday - New Girl!

It's been a long week here at truth.be.told headquarters. Long hours at the day job and lots of things to get done around here have left me a little bit flat at the end of the week. 

Luckily when I was about to slip into a comatose state I came across something to lift my mood that also happens to make a perfect entry for this weeks Film Clip Friday. 

So this weeks Clip is the interactive film clip made my the clever kids behind the New Girl - it's like a choose your own adventure film clip for the shows theme.  Cool huh? Check out the pics below!

Now again, this isn't strictly a film clip in the traditional sense. In fact it is better. 
Why? Well it brings together a few of my favourite things: 

1. Choose your own adventure. Yes you get to choose how this film clip comes together. Seriously, the 8 year old in me that used to love those choose your own adventure books just passed out with excitement. And the grown up me isn't far off.   

2. New Girl is my fave show around at the moment. I can't get enough of it. Cute cast, quirky storylines and the lead character is named Jess just like me. Plus the character and I are kind of twins except she gets to use glitter more than I do. What is not to love.   


3. I think Zooey is the coolest, I've been on this bandwagon since I picked up my first issue of Nylon with her on the cover way back in like 2001. Seriously, who doesn't love this lady?


4. I like musicals a whole lot. So the fact this clip has a bunch of different dance numbers you can choose from is pretty much amazing x infinity in my books. 


5. I love colour. People in this clip are wearing some rad colours and there appears to be a whole ot of velvet involved in their outfits (check out the guy in the golden suit!) - my wardrobe is like a rainbow so this is what I wished my world looked like. Choosing to work in architecture wasn't a great way to make that happen.

new year, same loves

So I know we are almost a week into 2012, but I'm still getting into the swing of things - so happy belated new year!


I had big plans for blogging up a storm over my holidays but instead I've been reading, relaxing and planning a few new ventures for 2012 including a kind of new direction for this blog and even a new little sister blog to boot. Now this new blog isn't supposed to replace this one, but kind of be its cuter quirky little sister, leaving this one to be the cool older sister blog focused on all my work with truthbetold. Weird analogy I know, but I'm really excited about the new direction and hopefully you guys will be too. 


Anyway, while I am busy putting the finishing touches on all of that I thought I would share my fave video from over the holidays - this video karaoke session by two of my fave actors Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt. You have probably already seen it 1,000 times but go ahead and swoon again why don't ya? Could they be a-n-y cuter if they tried?

truth//gee i wish i was cool

here is the truth readers.

i wish i was cooler. some people are just awesome without even trying. and i am so not one of those people at all. it could be because i am clumsy and totally socially awkward. it may also be that i like wearing bows in my hair. and i am 26. it probably doesn't help that i can recite lines from movies like bring it on. useless knowledge like this does make me a pretty great trivia player, but not any cooler. 

so you can imagine that when i saw the new she & him clip i just felt a little less cool, if possible. because lets be honest, we all know that zooey deschanel is pretty much the coolest. but i guess she does wear bows in her hair so maybe there is hope for me yet.

i may be the last person on earth to hear about this. it's pretty likely. in any case i did got all giddy in my office today and in the process invited some strange looks from my dear co-workers. what caused this you may wonder? the news i stumbled across that she + him will be releasing a new album on 23 march. yep. and it is said that they will be touring in the US when i am there apparently. oh i do hope so. fingers crossed lovelies 

oh and thank you so much for the lovely words + encouragement about my last post. i am looking forward to 2010 in a sort of immeasurable way. i'll keep you in the loop of course xx

i wish my world was like this. i wish i had pretty hair and a lovely blue dress like Miss Zooey. I wish i could break into dance Fred and Ginger style in a bank and not get potentially arrested. Ahh and that song is great.

500 days of summer

so i am pretty sure by now that we have all heard that this movie is just going to be the sweetest thing ever. how can it not be? it has zooey. it's a sweet anti rom-com. it has a great soundtrack. it looks like sunshine on film.
i knew i was going to love this movie before i even saw it. i even got the soundtrack about two weeks ago i was that sure. i hadn't watched clips or anything, i just knew. it might have been the sweet sketchy poster but i think it was just the generally sweet and well sunshine like vibe i got from the idea of it.

anyway, i saw it last night with one of my fave people. and it would be fair to say we were both feeling quite gloomy beforehand, work + rainy days will sometimes do that. but after we saw the movie we were both chipper and felt good about the world again. so yes i did love it maybe even more than i expected.

and really, what's not to love?
